Old School Easy Brown Sugar Peach Cobbler

There are some recipes that immediately earn a place on the “make again” list, and this peach cobbler is definitely one of them. Between the sweet summer peaches, warm brown sugar flavors, and that incredible maple butter served over ice cream, this dessert felt like the perfect way to celebrate peach season.


First Impressions

From the very beginning, I appreciated how uncomplicated this recipe was. The ingredient list was simple, the preparation was straightforward, and the peaches required very little work. Sometimes the best recipes allow the ingredients to shine without overcomplicating the process, and this cobbler certainly delivered on that promise.


Flavor, Simplicity & Modifications

The flavor was wonderful. The peaches remained the star of the show while the brown sugar, cinnamon, and maple added just enough warmth and sweetness to complement them. The maple butter served over vanilla ice cream took this dessert to another level and was easily one of our favorite parts of the entire recipe.

One of the things I loved most was how easy the peaches were to prepare. Simply cut them in half, remove the pit, and slice each half into four wedges. No peeling, no complicated prep work—just fresh peaches ready for the baking dish.

I made the recipe exactly as written and honestly didn’t feel the need to make any modifications.

Without question, I would keep the maple butter. It was absolutely worth the extra step and paired perfectly with both the cobbler and the ice cream.

I would also continue using fresh peaches and serving the cobbler warm shortly after baking. The freshness of the fruit really shines in this recipe.


What I Might Try Differently

Next time, I’d love to experiment with adding cinnamon-spiced walnuts or pecans on top. I think the added crunch would pair beautifully with the soft peaches and buttery cobbler.


Final Thoughts

This recipe was a winner in our house. My Favorite Critic agreed that it was at its absolute best the day it was made, when the topping was still warm and the peaches were perfectly tender. While leftovers were still tasty, this is definitely a dessert that shines fresh from the oven.

If you’re looking for a simple summer dessert that highlights the natural sweetness of peaches, this cobbler is well worth making. Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream and don’t skip the maple butter—you’ll be glad you didn’t.
