2 Samuel 22:31–33
“God’s way is perfect. All the Lord’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to Him for protection. For who is God except the Lord? Who but our God is a solid rock? God is my strong fortress, and He makes my way perfect.”

There is something deeply comforting about knowing that the God we depend on is not shaken by the things that shake us.
He is not moved by what moves me.
The unexpected news.
The unanswered question.
The circumstances I cannot control.
The plans that suddenly change.
The uncertainty of what comes next.
These things can unsettle me. They can make me question what I thought I knew or wonder how everything will work out. But none of them unsettle God.
He is my Rock.
A rock does not shift simply because the storm grows stronger. It remains firm while everything around it is being tossed about. And that is the picture David gives us in 2 Samuel 22. David knew hardship, disappointment, danger, and uncertainty. Yet when he looked back over his life, he could still declare, “God’s way is perfect. All the Lord’s promises prove true.”
Not because David’s path had been easy, but because God had been faithful.
I think sometimes I want God to make the circumstances around me feel secure. I want the answer, the resolution, or at least some reassurance that things will unfold the way I hope.
But God offers me something even more secure than predictable circumstances.
He offers me Himself.
He is my shield when I feel vulnerable.
My fortress when life feels uncertain.
My solid Rock when the ground beneath me seems to shift.
And perhaps that is where peace begins, not in knowing what will happen next, but in remembering Who remains the same.
The circumstances that move me do not move Him.
The things that surprise me never surprise Him.
And when I cannot see the way ahead, I can still stand firmly on the One whose promises prove true.
My prayer this week is that when life feels uncertain or something threatens to shake my peace, I will remember El Sali—God my Rock. Instead of allowing my circumstances to determine where I stand, may I plant my feet firmly on the truth of who He is. He is steady when I am shaken, faithful when I cannot see what comes next, and strong enough to hold me through every storm.
