2 Samuel 5:1–10

There is something encouraging about seeing God’s promises fulfilled after a long season of waiting.

In 2 Samuel 5, David is finally recognized as king over all of Israel. The shepherd boy who was anointed by God years earlier now steps into the calling God had spoken over his life. But what stands out to me is not just the fulfillment of the promise—it’s the length of the journey.

David was about 15 years old when he was anointed by Samuel. Yet he was 30 years old when he became king over all twelve tribes of Israel. Fifteen years of waiting. Fifteen years of preparation. Fifteen years of learning to trust God through uncertainty, opposition, disappointment, and delay.

How often do we want God’s promises without God’s process?

If you find yourself weary in the waiting, take heart. The seasons that feel slow are not wasted. God was not absent from David’s story during those fifteen years, and He is not absent from yours. While David waited, God was shaping his character, strengthening his faith, and preparing him for the responsibility that was ahead.

Perhaps the waiting season you’re walking through today is not a detour but part of God’s preparation.

And while we may long for answers to specific prayers, there is one promise that has already been fulfilled for every believer—the promise of salvation through Jesus Christ. That promise is secure, unchanging, and eternal.

Jesus calls us to abide in Him while we wait.

If the answer is yes, praise Him.

If the answer is no, praise Him anyway.

If the answer hasn’t come yet, praise Him while you wait.

Because His faithfulness is not determined by our circumstances. His faithfulness is part of His character.

“Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.” — Psalm 27:14

May we trust that the God who made the promise is also faithful to fulfill it—in His perfect timing and for His glory. ❤️
